Fadime’s (Pizza) Hut

food/july06 006.jpg
We decided to call this pizza from Fadime’s Hut ( it’s as good as Pizza Hut, hence the name).

She used a bread maker to make the dough for the pizza base. But if you dont have one, like me, we can mix it with hand, or maybe use a food processor with the dough blade. The idea is that is gets mixed for a long time. The more its mixed, the softer it gets.

Ingredients: (for 2 Large Pizzas)
1 big cup milk,
1/2 cup oil,
1 tbsp yeast,
1 tbsp sugar,
1 tbsp salt
approx 2 1/2 cups flour.

Topping Sauce:
2 tbsp tomato paste (need to add water) or 2 cans tomato sauce + 3- 4 little tomatoes chopped + salt +black pepper +oregano

Topping options:
Mozarella cheese, peppers all colors, mushrooms, olives, cooked chicken, onions, tomato slices etc

Put all the ingredients listed above for making the dough in the bread machine. Follow the setting as per the manual to make pizza dough.

Preheat the oven to 500 deg F. (The oven should be very hot, before we put the pizzas in)

Take 2 trays, put some oil on the bottom, and divide the dough approx in two equal parts, and spread/stretch it on the tray with your hands.

Pour the sauce on the two trays. You might need to stretch the dough back in place.

Start by sprinkling cheese on the pizza. This is a cheese pizza.

To make vegetable pizza, add the vegetables on top of the cheese.

Now pop the trays in the oven. Bake at 500 deg F for about 10 mins, then reduce the heat to about 350-375 deg F depending on your oven. Bake another say 20 mins till the cheese is golden brown and you see the dough is puffed everywhere. The edges should be reddish brown to get a nice crispy crust.

Done!

Cut into pieces and serve. Its great anytime of the day!

Abby’s 4th of July Treat

Abby is Luis and Olga’s daughter. She is cute, pretty, smart and looks like a model. Today we went to their place for barbecue, actually we were supposed to go to a park, but because of the rains, our venue changed.

Abby made this very colorful, delicious and did I mention healthy too, dessert, she named it July 4th treat. Not too hard to guess the colors of this one?

Ingredients:
Strawberries,
blue berries,
marshmallows (any size)
6 or 8 inch skewers as many as you want

String the strawberries, marshmallow and the blueberries in this order on the skewers. Abby used 2 blueberries at a time. I will have a picture of this soon.

We can make this and keep in the refrigerator hours before our party.

Serve cold.

Simple Banana Smoothie

Its so hot here these days, and I think better than eating icecream everyday, once in a while its good to have something healthy. This smoothie is easy, extremely healthy, you dont need too many things, and best of all, its delicious, cool and filling. Now after I have said such great things about this smoothie, I think you should give this a try.

In India, we call smoothie milkshake. So this recipe is called as banana milkshake in India. My mom used to make smoothies/milkshake with different kinds of fruit, Mango being my favorite!

Ingredients:
For 1 person, 1 banana and so on.
1 cup cold milk
a couple of ice cubes (optional)
sugar as per taste (lesser the better, more the sweeter)

Just put all of the above in the blender, and blend. Voila its done :) . How hard was that?
