Matar Paneer (Peas and Indian cheese)

“….aur bahut saare matar…aur garam garam puriya!” (literally translated, it means: and lots more peas, with hot hot indian deep fried bread called puri)

Who doesnt like matar paneer in India? It is sooo good!

Here is the recipe, from my mother, we call her aaie (means Mother in Marathi).

Ingredients:

3 onions medium size
4 tomatoes
1 inch ginger (adrak)
7-8 cloves garlic (lasan)
Spice mix: garam masala, corriander (dhania) powder, chilli (mirchi) powder, turmeric (haldi)
salt as per taste
oil for cooking
and ofcourse paneer (indian cheese, you could make it at home too, i will soon post a recipe for that)
and lots of peas :)

Blend the onions, tomatoes, ginger and garlic. Now cook them in oil for a long time. I mean till the oil seperates out. Add the spice mix, fry for a minute or so. Add the peas, fry again for a bit. Then finally add the paneer cubes. Done!
You may fry the paneer pieces in oil and then put it in the curry.

Eat with jeera rice, or naan (tandoori bread made in India).

    Thanks Nancy,

I think most of the recipes on my blog, are simple, with easy to get ingredients. (I am not a good cook, but I am a big fuudie). So I constantly ask my friends, relatives for easy to make recipes. Thats how I got started, and yes, there are more of easy indian vegetable recipes on this blog. You should check them out, and tell me how it turns out for you.

    Come again!
